The story of Lakewood Animal Health Center
Lakewood Animal Health Center has come a long way since October of 1994. When Kathy Moore, DVM and Julie Dyer, DVM joined professionally to provide veterinary care to the Lakewood community, they never imagined the success they have achieved.

Their vision was to combine their veterinary careers with the challenges of motherhood. Joining forces allowed them to job share a full-time doctor position while enjoying the benefits of being at home 3 to 4 days per week. The Practice has now grown to include Dr. Sarah Golladay as part owner. This allows the hospital to be staffed with 2 veterinarians on any given day and provides a work-life balance for the team.

Starting with no existing clients or patients and 1 supporting staff member, they have grown to over 4,700 active clients and over 20 supporting staff members. Many of their clients remember the early days when the practice was located in a storefront. In January 2005, Lakewood Animal Health Center opened its new state-of-the-art, 7,500 square foot, veterinary hospital located on Lakewood Way. Lee’s Summit and the surrounding communities have responded to their desire to provide outstanding medical care to companion pets in a warm and caring environment.

Over the years, the Doctors have achieved their business and personal goals and at the same time have established a terrific team of people. The key to their success has been placing relationships as their highest priority, whether it is the relationship with employees, clients, patients, family, or the community. Clients and patients have grown accustomed to warm greetings and special treatment at Lakewood Animal Health Center. The doctors have worked hard to gain the trust of their staff and the people and pets they serve.
